Playername: peonPower Replay: http://www.2shared.com/uploadComplete.jsp?sId=5Taltjd3jZ8Ff7S7 League: Diamond Match up: ZvT Complete/Specific: Kind of both. Before im answering to "questions" i want to tell you my feeling about the game when i was playing it. I was really passive in the early game, but I really felt comfortable macroing up while harassing my enemy, in the meantime i tried to set up some defenses, because of his, i assumed, way higher army supply (earlier Expansion+shit load of Thors). Still i think i overdroned too much and shouldve pumped more units instead before taking my third and setting up the fourth. Till he attacked i felt like it was my best macroing game ever in terms of keeping the ressources low and injecting larva (im relativley new to zerg, switched from toss). So my questions are: Should i have stayed on 2Base? His 2nd was way earlier then mine, i think that third was necessary to keep up economy wise. The questions leads me to another more generel question: How should i adjust my drone count in general to my enemy to protect myself from overdroning? Lets assume im playing 14Pool/15Hatch. My main is saturated and my enemy is still on 1base. Should i stay on 1base, slowly sneak drones in between some units or "pump" 1-2 larva injects full of drones and defend till the eco effect kicks in? I think its kind of risky, if he is still on one base and is going for an all-in or something like that and im using ~20 larvas for drones (in case i dont scout it and thought hes just playing passively) and he just steamrolls me shortly after. My 2nd question is: How should i transition out of Ling/Muta against Hellion/Thor mix? Against mech im going for Ling/Bling/Muta, but im not sure if this is the right mix against pure Hellion/Thor without tanks. I dont know if this unit composition isnt safe or i just have to adjust the ration of less lings, more mutas. Yes, thors do quite some damage against thors, but i read once they reach a good amount they can keep up pretty well (considering splitting them). Lings are my prefered counter against Thors, but they are useless against Hellions. After the game i was thinking about either really massing mutas to match the thors or baneling the hellions, eat the thors with lings (which is kinda risky if the banelings dont hit the hellions) or something differend higher tech thing. I dont consider infestors mindcontrol useful in this situation, cause they'll die in an instant even if you try to flank them. Fungal growth is, of course, always helpful. Of course the game was full of errors and i tried to tech to roaches against thors which i now feel was a horrible decision, even when i didnt really build any. Thors are just too good against them. My zerg is still horrible. Edit.: I just played around with the unit tester. 5 Roaches with speed > 1 Thor. 40 Roaches > 8 Thors (autoattack, no burrowmicro, not setting up any kind of arc) and quite a number of roaches is going to survive. Plus they dont cost much gas and counter hellions. Sidenote: 3 burrowed blings is enough to kill of a hellion group, 2 for marines. I think this information is quite handy to accomplish 2 things: 1.you can spread you blings more efficient against hellions. 2. even if he scans the blings only 3 will die. I would thank you to help to improve my game, but even if you dont, i really appreciate your generous contribution to the starcraft2 community. I apologize for my grammatic errors and weird diction from time to time. Im german
