On September 24th, 2011, a collective of students and workers at the University of Maryland marched and protested to put an end to a long history of sexual and racially motivated abuse at that school. On September 24th 2011 a special rally was held at the Nyumburu Amphitheater for support the October 2011 “Stop the Machine” movement. This rally featured Dr. Margaret Flowers, Kevin Zesse, and Revolutionary Hip Hop group, The Coup!!! And of course…Your World News was there to support and cover this rally for a critically important movement on October 6, 2011 at Freedom Plaza, Washington DC---to Stop the Damn Machine!!!!
On October 16, 2011 a rally was organized by Students Against Mass Incarceration on the campus of Howard University to protest the proposed execution of Troy Davis in Georgia. Your Word News was out there to show our support with other justice oriented comrades!
Teachers, students, parents and community members came out to protest the massive unfair budget cuts to education in the state of Maryland! Your World News was there is Solidarity.
UMD workers (Facilities, custodial staff, grounds keepers, etc) have been routinely treated with disrespect, verbal abuse---all the while being paid-un-livable wages.They let their voices be heard on April 13th at a Rally on the campus of the University of Maryland!
