The most effective way to reach out to and motivate voters is door-to-door canvassing, as awful as it may sound to the uninitiated. Knocking on some strangers door and trying to sell them an idea or a person is pretty intimidating, that's for sure. But once you get started, it's actually kind of fun -- or at least, there are much, much worse ways to spend a nice Saturday morning. And afterwards? There's beer.
