The Condit Dam was breached today, releasing water from a 92-acre reservoir on the White Salmon River in Klickitat County. The dam, constructed in 1913, was removed by owner and operator PacifiCorp instead of spending an estimated $100 million for fish passages that would have been required to renew its operating license to generate about 15 megawatts.
