Zhou-zhuang is probably the most famous among the 6 water towns not too far from Shanghai. Probably the easiest way to get there is to sign up for a tour. Buses depart from the Shanghai Stadium (subway line 1 and get off at the Shanghai Stadium). It takes around 3 hours for the buss to arrive there.
