About this episode

TV-UN

Speaker: Dr Khair El-Din Haseeb and Haifa Zangana As the wrangling over the political future of Iraq continues, the complex diversity of parties and positions is often overlooked. The views of many of those who oppose the recent and likely future governments need to be heard and recognised as legitimate, rather than being lumped together with al-Qaeda. This seminar will broaden the debate on Iraq through exposure to Iraq voices ...with meaningful contributions to make. Dr Khair El-Din Haseeb is Director General of the Centre for Arab Unity Studies in Beirut. He holds an MSc from LSE and a PhD from the University of Cambridge. During his distinguished career Dr Haseeb has been Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Professor of Economics at Baghdad University and has held senior roles in the UN. He has also worked for the Iraqi National Oil Company and the Arab National Congress.
