The war in the Democratic Republic of Congo is now a decade old, and the impacts on women's health and safety in the country are dire. This program is an insightful discussion about the conflict's background, how women are coping with the crisis and how you can help to end it. On January 28, 2009 Muadi Mukenge Regional Director for Sub-Saharan Africa Global Fund for Women and Professor Amina Mama of Mills College led a discussion about the decade-long conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The war in the DRC is one of the longest ongoing conflicts in the world, and also one that many people in the U.S. know little about. As part of an onging series this is an opportunity to learn more about the history leading up to the conflict, as well as the work of women in the DRC to make improvements and move towards peace. For more information on the program, the DRC and other project of WCRC visit us on the web at www.coloredgirls.org Less
