AbstractTake an existing public art installation (In this case the Kennedy greenway fountain in Boston, MA) and augment it to display energy use within communities. Why?Outing energy hogs allows the public as a whole to begin AddressingEnergy use in their local community It is everyone’s responsibility to reduce energy consumption and to recognize wasteful practices in their community. How does it work?Local energy use data is streamed to the installation.Digitally controlled water nozzles shoot streams of water to areas within the horizontal town plan.Areas of high energy use ‘fill up’ quickly, indicating larger energy volumes.Daily Energy "Hotspots" on the physical town plan are Illuminated using lighting and steamHotspots are also tracked daily, weekly, monthly and annually online and on displays shown around the installationBy stamping, physically, on the map an email will be sent to the business(s)/homes who are most energy deficient. An email will also be sent to local government officials responsible for energy use. This is a simple animation showing how this may work in reality
