This talk was the keynote address of the conference "Contested Commodities: Reframing the Debate on Financial Incentives in the Supply of Genetic Materials," held on April 4, 2008 at the University of Chicago Law School. Richard Epstein is James Parker Hall Distinguished Service Professor of Law and Director, Law and Economics Program at the Unievrsity of Chicago Law School. He was introduced by Michele Goodwin, Visiting Professor of Law at the Unievrsity of Chicago Law School.
