Veteran Moore, born in Kentucky, joined the Army in 1963.Trained Basic & Advanced Infantry at Ft Jackson SC and served 7 years in Infantry before changing MOS to Drill Sgt. He was sent to Korea...it was Cold!!!, working with UN troops for a year. Al re-emlisted for 6 more and went to 24th Infantry in Germany and didn't like the fit so 7 months later he volunteered for VietNam, in Jan 1966. A year later he was sent to Ft Hood Texas and for 7 months didn't like the fit!! In Sept 1967 he returned to VietNam and the second tour was 'harder'. "Hours of boredom puntuated by moments of extreme panic". He returned to Ft. Campbell, Old Guard and escorted returned bodies from the Presidio. Later served in the Honor Guard for burials. He returned to Ft Jackson as Drill Instructor until retiring in Novmber 1970. Thank you for your service Alfred.
