About this original series

Urban Vision Entertainment Inc., a production/distribution company based in Los Angeles, made a grand entrance in the home video market in 1997 with its christening release, Bio Hunter, a horror-thriller from Yoshiaki Kawajiri (Ninja Scroll, Wicked City). This title set the standard for Urban Vision Entertainment's mission of producing and distributing cutting edge Japanese animation. In 2001, Urban Vision Entertainment launched Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust into theatres, defying the traditional confines of the anime genre by playing in all major cities across the United States, and then making its way throughout the world via theatrical and DVD release. From the beginning, Urban Vision has steadily built a reputation for releasing titles of the highest quality, including such time-tested audience favorites as Vampire Hunter D, The Professional: GOLGO 13, and Ninja Scroll: The Series. Recently, Urban Vision Entertainment began widening its focus to the growing potential of Asian live-action film. To clearly distinguish between animation and live-action projects, a new label was established: AsiaVision. As with anime, AsiaVision plans to retain a focus on Asian horror, action, and thriller. The label will officially launch in March 2006 beginning with the direct-to-DVD release, Curse, Death & Spirit, an anthology of three short horror stories directed by Hideo Nakata (director of Ringu, The Ring 2). This would be followed in succession by the Japanese slasher film Kill Devil and Kokkuri, which recounts the fixation of Japanese teenagers with "Kokkuri-san," a spirit who can be called upon to provide an answer to any question-no matter the consequences. AsiaVision will receive its big launch in Spring 2006 with a limited theatrical run of the hit Japanese blockbuster "AZUMI", which will tour in major cities across the United States. "AZUMI" is based on the comics of Yu Koyama, which have sold more than 8 million copies. The film grossed approximately $7.5 million USD and inspired a sequel, "AZUMI 2: DEATH OR LOVE". A DVD release of "AZUMI" is planned following the theatrical run. As fans have come to know, Urban Vision Entertainment has never been a company that releases titles in bulk. Each release is carefully picked and put together to create a great end product-resulting in some of the anime industry's best sellers*. That discretion combined with focused resources in Asia has given Urban Vision Entertainment an edge in anime, and it is dedicated to delivering the same high quality with AsiaVision. *All three volumes of Ninja Scroll: The Series ranked in the Top 25 Anime titles of 2004 according to Nielsen VideoScan. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust ranked 7th of overall DVD sales for 2002 according to Nielsen VideoScan.
