TruthAIDS was born out of the experience of physicians working to prevent and treat HIV in the South Bronx. We came to realize that conversations about HIV prevention had to start with love, trust, identity, abuse, and support in order to make safe sex a reality. Our efforts to uncover this missing dialogue led us to create new strategies to teach about health. Approaching HIV prevention from this perspective presents an opportunity to expand preventative health in new ways that has the potential to transform our lives. The name TruthAIDS is a double-entendre. Telling the truth is not only important for HIV, it is important in order to move forward the work of social justice. Alternative media channels are an important venue for opening this dialogue. The featured stories in this channel are about the praxis of telling the truth. They stem from the TruthAIDS Oral Histories Series and the TruthAIDS Community Partnership Series.
