Rewarding the Inspiring Triathlete

#002 - Rewarding the Inspiring Triathlete, Triumph Challenge 2011, and The Tony Rich Project Quote of the Week: "Done is Better Than Perfect" by Scott Allen. I'm so happy to be doing now my 2nd podcast. Rewarding the Inspiring Triathlete: TriumphTriathlon.com's centralized blog is all about showcasing and awarding the "Inspiring Triathlete". Obviously, the professional endurance athletes get a lot of credit for their physical and mental ability in this sport, by I feel that much of the credit for the success of endurance sports should be given to "newbie" and "age-grouper" athletes. Why? 1) "Newbie" marathoners and "age-grouper" triathletes are powered by one thing, INSPIRATION. Many of those athletes got started watching other people who filled them with inspiration to get going. Dick and Rick Hoyt are a great example. Darn, I couldn't find the specific link to the man who went from obese to Ironman. I know it was on Jason Bahamundi's website though, go to http://www.baha703ironman.com/ 2) After conquered a marathon, triathlon or even a 5k, many of these "inspired" athletes share their story with others either in person, or even more so on a blog or social network of some kind. 3) So by creating a "centralized blog" on TriumphTriathlon.com, not only will it make it easier for "inspired triathletes" to share their story, we'll be able to "reward" them with product and services from Triumph Triathlon sponsors. Rewarding inspired triathletes in this way will only give them more reason to keep inspiring others. Triumph Challenge 2011: One of those "rewards" is free entry into Lake Placid Ironman 2012. All the details are not final yet but there are some details to report. The date of the fundraising event will be July 17, 2011 (exactly 1 week before Lake Placid Ironman 2011). The location is close to be finalized; as of now it will be at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Boston! We're adding more sponsors every day and it's looks to be a great event! Triathlete of the Week: The Triumph "Triathlete of the Week" goes to my good friend and Triumph Triathlon in Boston triathlon coach, Tony Rich. Tony is a 2x Ironman, 20x marathon finisher who knows his stuff and is now my triathlon coach for my Ironman! You can find him on the Triumph Triathlon in Boston website at http://www.triumphboston.com IronRuben Training Update: Tony had me on this 10 mile run last Saturday and was typical New England winter running conditions: wet, cold, and snowy. From you pictures you can see that didn't stop me or Tony, nor a lot of other people running up "Heartbreak Hill". We even saw Karen Smyers on the course! Go to http://www.karensmyers.com/ for more info on the Ironman World Champion. Finish Line: Thanks for watching another Triumph Triathlon episode! Make sure to subscribe to the show on iTunes at itpc://triumphtriathlon.blip.tv/rss/itunes/ More to come next week including our first product giveaway announced on the podcast! Make it a great day, Ruben
