As the Minnesota Senate debates a bill that would loosen restrictions on when people can fire a gun, police officers tell the media why they oppose the measure. They fear that it might legalize the murder of children who sneak into a yard and might pose a threat to officers who operate in a stealth mode. Bill author Senator Gretchen Hoffman (R-Vergas) says she disagrees with the police. “There are many protections in statute already for law enforcement. We’re not changing any of that,” said Senator Hoffman. “If law enforcement is legally, lawfully carrying out their duty you can’t shoot at them. And this bill won’t change that.” Less
