An issue stirring controversy at the Capitol recently would allow oral practitioners to provide dental care in poorly-served oral health care areas, many in Greater Minnesota. During Senate debate on the omnibus higher education funding bill, which reduces higher ed spending by 3 percent, an amendment defining training for oral health care brought the issue to the forefront. The amendment included a provision not allowing oral health practitioners to remove permanent teeth.
