The Senate gives preliminary approval to a bill requiring school districts to design policies that prohibit "harassment, bullying, intimidation, hazing and violence." It is directed to discourage harm to people based on perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, disability, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, physical characteristics and association with a person with one or more of these perceived characteristics.
