There are nine candidates running for Minnesota’s state house seat on the east side of St. Paul. Foung Hawj (Hew) told UpTake interviewer Grace Kelly about the toughest decision he ever had to make. His family was one of 8 families that escaped from Laos in three boats. Hawj’s father had chronicled the Vietnam War in photos, and Foung was charged with safeguarding them.
