The science behind everyday life

About this original series

My name is Deborah Berebichez and I 'm a highly passionate science communicator. I want to change the paradigm that suggests that science is too complicated, boring and inpractical by inspiring young people to learn about the fun and practical science facts that occur in daily life. I received a Ph.D. in physics from Stanford and a B.A. in philosophy and physics from Brandeis. I specialize in the theoretical study of waves as they propagate in complex media. I am an avid science writer and international speaker and my aim is to produce a TV show based on creative science ideas. I am originally from Mexico so my videos will be in Spanish as well. Would love to hear from you!

    • What is Time Reversal?

Time-reversal is the process whereby a signal is emitted by a source and propagates in a medium with scatterers in it. The waves are recorded at a receiver over a time much larger than the original pulse duration so as to capture the multiple scattering. The receiver then reverses the waveform in time and re-emits it into the same channel. The waves back-propagate through the medium retracing the multiple scattering paths taken on the way to the receiver and ultimately refocus at the original ...

"The Theory of Everything is a term for the ultimate theory of the universe—a set of equations capable of describing all phenomena that have been observed, or that will ever be observed. It is the modern incarnation of the reductionist ideal of the ancient Greeks, an approach to the natural world that has been fabulously successful in bettering the lot of mankind and continues in many people's minds to be the central paradigm of physics." (The Theory of Everything, David Pines & Robert Laughli...
