Born and raised in City Heights, Teresa Nguyen began to get more involved in the Vietnamese community after learning more about her culture and history from other student while attending UCSD.Now with the Little Saigon Foundation, a two-year-old non-profit ran from an immigration law office, she works with other community residents to have the seven block stretch of El Cajon Blvd. officially recognized by the city as Little Saigon.The organization hopes to bring a proposal to the city council within the next two years. If successful she said, other ethnic groups along the street may try to do the same.
