As an Environmental Studies student at The New School, Alex Smith knew he had an interest in alternative power. He put that enthusiasm into action in the summer of 2009, when he was one of several students to participate in the university's field internship program. Alex spent his days on the banks of the East River, working at Solar One, Manhattan's only solar powered educational center. Listen as Alex discusses the potential of solar power, the rewards of community education, and why he chose to be an urban environmentalist. We are grateful to the Christian A.
