This is just a simple video demonstrating how I chop a mortise using a chisel. One reason this technique is supposedly better than drilling (followed by hogging out the waste) is that the levering action of the chisel helps to tidy up the walls of the mortise.I dunno about that, but this is a fairly quick way of making a decent mortise.
