This video introduces the concept of symbols as objects on the stage which can be given instance names. Instance names are the means by which we can refer to objects through ActionScript, whether these objects have been created at development or run time. This is an important issue to address, as it is the beginning of adding interactivity and non-linearity to your animation. The next video tutorial will be covering text in Flash, as most people I know that use it have teething problems. I'll be taking a break from the planned episode structure to cover this in the next episode.
