Teresa MacBain: "Shift Happens"

ACA Lecture Series -- Teresa MacBain: "Shift Happens" 2012-08-22 Teresa MacBain had a secret, one she was terrified to reveal. This is how she felt before the Clergy Project showed her a way out: "I'm currently an active pastor and I'm also an atheist," she says. "I live a double life. I feel pretty good on Monday, but by Thursday -- when Sunday's right around the corner -- I start having stomachaches, headaches, just knowing that I got to stand up and say things that I no longer believe in and portray myself in a way that's totally false. Teresa MacBain is now the executive director for The Clergy Project, a safe haven for active and former clergy who do not hold supernatural beliefs. The Clergy Project is working to expand its reach by providing tangible assistance to transitioning clergy via a financial grant and reemployment aid. She is now working to raise awareness for the freethought community and, in particular, the fellow clergy persons who are still trapped in the pulpit. (http://www.clergyproject.org)
