ACA Lecture Series -- Sissy Bradford: "Paying the Price for Defending Religious Freedom" 2012-08-05 Last fall, Sissy Bradford, an adjunct instructor who taught criminology at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, questioned why crosses were being placed near the public university’s entrance. Although the crosses were subsequently removed, Ms Bradford was informed that the university would not offer her any courses to teach in the fall semester.In addition to losing her teaching position, Ms. Bradford has been threatened, stalked, and harassed by those who disagreed with her stance.The ACA Lecture Series (http://www.atheist-community.org/lectures/) is a monthly event in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. Lectures are generally free and open to the public. The ACA Lecture Series is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin (http://www.atheist-community.org/) is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
