CHOPPING IT OLD SCHOOL: VINTAGE WORKFLOW WITH ABLETON LIVE

Ableton Live lets you program beats a lot of ways: there are drum racks and impulse as well as clips and blah blah blah. But what about the old way? Remember when you used to use a hacked version of ProTools to make your beats on a crappy Gateway laptop? Or was that just me? This video is not so much a tutorial as a document of me making a beat the old-fashioned way: on the timeline with a track for each drum sound. The majority of the drum sounds come from a snippet of the movie Yojimbo that I Audio Hijacked from Netflix. I also included a keyboard view so that you can see how I use keyboard shortcuts to quickly manipulate the audio. I hope you like it and let me know what you think!
