TechDrawl, launched in January of 2009, is an video blog HQ in Atlanta, GA showcasing technology startups, early stage companies, entrepreneurs, new media, social enterprise, gaming and innovationabout fresh from the South. Our mission is to bring to the national stage the newest and most promising privately owned technology companies from D.C. to Texas (the U.S. Census South) to attract publicity and investment capital to the region.

First Light Ventures is piloting a model that we call “Village Capital” in four sites worldwide: Mumbai, the Bay Area, Boulder, and in our backyard in New Orleans. We are fronting a pool of capital and letting the entrepreneurs themselves make the investment decisions. We have partnered with the Idea Village and their 2010 cohort to test the model. This video is an example of a couple of the participating entrepreneurs.
The Idea Village in New Orleans is a small group of dedicated entrepreneurs and investors who have created a remarkable ecosystem. A group of young entrepreneurs in New Orleans went away to Atlanta, New York, Boston, and Chicago, did well in start-ups and finance, and then moved back to the city. When they were out at a bar one night, they asked, “What would it take to keep people like us in the city?”
