The protest is also a memorial service for a legendary gay American military Hero, Leonard Matlovich. &#34;I&#39;ve been in the service twelve years, and I&#39;m gay. I have never been in trouble. I have a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, and three commendations for performance above &#38; beyond the call of duty. On the Air Force&#39;s rating scale of 1 to a top of 9, I have never received less than 9 in my entire enlistment. Now, I want to end the military&#39;s prejudice against homosexuality, and I&#39;m willing to fight all the way to the Supreme Court if it&#39;s necessary!&#34; He told Dr. Frank Kameny upon agreeing to be the &#34;ideal&#34; test case Kameny &#38; other civil rights activists were seeking.
