    • Love Song by Elaine Walker

I composed "Love Song" in 2007 in the Bohlen-Pierce Scale. I built these two keyboards especially for this performance at the Bohlen-Pierce Symposium, March 8, 2010. The keyboard I'm playing is a rearranged Roland A-30, and Dan is playing a Korg Poly800 with keys that I specially ordered, sawed, sanded and rearranged. I'll post videos on the making of these keyboards at some point. The hexagon keyboard (Called a "sonome") is the same one that is in my video series on rearranging the keys for t...

    • Stick Men by Elaine Walker

"Stick Men" by Elaine Walker of ZIA was composed in 1991, directly inspired by "Solemn Song for Evening" movement 2 composed by Dr Richard Boulanger, which he played for the composition class in the Music Synthesis Department at Berklee College of music during Elaine's undergrad, in 1990. Elaine on her BP-tar (Bohlen-pierce scale tuned vertical keyboard), Dr Boulanger on the BP-sonome, Dan Sedgewick on BP-piano, Marji Gere on a BP-tuned violin. This was performed in the Music Synthesis perform...

    • Elaine Walker's Bohlen-Pierce Keyboards

These keyboards were available for participants to try out during the reception after Concert 3 of the Bohlen-Pierce Symposium, Boston, 2010, at the Goethe Institute. The top keyboard is a Korg Poly-800 rearranged for Lambda mode, the bottom keyboard (called a BP-tar) is rearranged for Dur II mode. It isn't clear yet which is a better key layout, but Elaine is leaning towards Dur II. In Dur II, "C" is between the two closer black notes - easier to find than C in Lamba mode, where the black key...

    • BP2010 Elaine Lecture (2of5)

I gave this lecture on day 3 of the Bohlen-Pierce Scale Symposium, Boston, March 9, 2010, at the Goethe Institute. Most lectures were about the mathematics and ratios of the BP Scale, so I wanted to give more listening examples, tools that people can use like the TRIADALIZER and actual chord progression charts that I have available online, and show my homemade Bohlen-Pierce Keyboards, which I'm willing to make for whomever wants them. - - - Bohlen-Pierce Scale Symposium, Boston 2010 There has ...

    • Solemn Song by Dr Richard Boulanger

"Solemn Song for Evening" was written by Dr. Richard Boulanger in 1987 and performed here during his presentation at the Bohlen-Pierce Scale Symposium in Boston, 2010. The piece was composed in the Bohlen-Pierce Scale and was not only the first vocal piece in the BP scale, but the first BP music I was exposed to when he played and sang it during electronic music composition class at Berklee College of Music, during my undergrad. It opened my ears to a new world of tonality, and sent me on my l...
