Our online profiles are an extension of our physical being. Their overlapping contours create a distributed digital identity. We can perceive it in our daily actions, and those of others. The sum of this perception constitutes our 'Distributed Digital Proprioception'. As the software agents executing the will of our digital identity become autonomous, this distributed entity potentially becomes to form a new kind of superorganism.
Cyberphilosphy classes explore the meta-physical conditions of cyberspace. In this class I will speak to the theme of Being online, developing my argument that the continuous emergence (becoming) of Being needs to be talked about from a subjective phenomenological point of view, in order to then develop identity and agency. Everybody is welcome - we are a learning group that will do its very best to integrate everybody into our conversations and reflections.
Flo Hoffmann discusses in this class the different aspects and issues when refelcting about the specificity of online identity and agency. His content is very intersting, but unfortunatly technology-wise the class recording is of rather bad quality. We experimented with an supercool external online meeting platform which has not lived up to expectations. For those interetsted in the subject the content will make up for the recording quality.
