About this original series

The US National Committee for UNIFEM (Part of UN Women) and the National Council for Research on Women partnered together to put on—Strategic Imperatives for Ending Violence Against Women: Creating Linkages to Education, Economic Security, and Health. This conference took place during the summer of 2010 and sought to spread awareness about programs addressing genderbased violence and to explore ways that women’s economic security, education, health, empowerment and other rights can change cultures and systems of violence. The following video series is of panel discussions that took place during this monumental conference. The participating experts set out to confront the deplorable use of violence, rape, and sexual assault as weapons of armed conflict, to engage men as partners, and to expand alliances to include governmental, religious, and officials and organizations alike.
