Over the last few years there has been a move from traditional Version Control Systems (VCS) to Distributed Version Control Systems (DVCS). One of the currently popular DVCSs today is git. It is best known as the DVCS used for the Linux kernel and has gained popularity due to the wildly successful GitHub site. Erik will explain how DVCSs improve upon the ideas of VCSs and explain many of the advanced tools and features specific to git.
