5 Dead, 12 injured at Middletown CT Gas ExplosionMiddletown's Kleen Energy power generating station was leveled in a huge explosion earlier today. The 11 AM blast which hurled workers into the air was heard for miles around. The Kleen Energy plant is located on the Connecticut River in the southern part of Middleltown. The plant was being built by O & G Industries of Torrington CT and was scheduled to begin generating electricity in a few weeks. Kleen Energy was designed to use natural gas has its primary fuel and it's eing reported that testing of the natural gas system was ongoing when the blast occurred.
