On December 13th, 2009, Songs of Freedom hosted the third Water Not Weapons concert at The Yippie Museum Cafe in Greenwich Village, NYC. Water Not Weapons is an environmental idea and movement started by Pete Seeger and Phil Sauers. Pete says that the planet earth will be saved by those who refuse to pick up guns and bombs to solve the world's problems, and concentrate instead on what really is important - protecting and preserving the critical resources necessary for every life. And it all begins with clean water. Artists contributing their time and talent this day included Ray Korona, Joel Landy, Spook Handy, Ken Gale, Steve Suffet, Rachel Stone, James Cannings, Caitlin O'Heaney, Jenny Hurwitz, Talbot Katz, Pat Lamanna, Mary Poppiins, and Gloria Waslyn and her "Parrots for Peace." This is the fourth of four episodes recorded at the show. It features Jenny Hurwitz, Talbot Katz, Joel Landy, and the show’s finale, with Spook Handy leading the Water Not Weapons Crew of performers in Pete Seeger’s “Rainbow Race.” A sweet conclusion to a memorable afternoon in New York. Enjoy the show! You can get involved with Water Not Weapons by contacting Songs of Freedom (www.singfreedom.org / joellandy@yahoo.com), and www.waternotweapons.org. I hope you do. peace and Faith, joel landy songs of freedom television
