Comedian Jim Germano gets a little serious in this part as we get to the nitty gritty of soap making. We weigh and melt the oils and add the lye solution, all the while the dog is barking and the parrot is doing his best to get the dog to stop. You get an explanation of what soap is and where it actually comes from and some tips on temperatures to use and mixing, what the purpose of palm oil and coconut is and which is better to use in a soap recipe.

How to make soap - Trace
Many of our customers have asked us to make a video to show what 'trace' looks like when making cold process soap.I made a batch of tallow, coconut, olive oils soap and made this video of the mixing. Unfortunately, the tallow I purchased contained citric acid. Citric Acid neutralizes lye, so it makes it difficult to make soap.
