Back at the turn of the century there was a lot of anti-globalisation in the air, as witnessed in this track by The Herd, from Sydney's Elefant Traks hiphop label. MC Ozi Batla waxes lyrical about the relationships between the first and third world, which we* tried to convey with a girl wandering through Brisbane and using a futuristic device to give her visual feedback about the various ethics of what she was seeing for sale in the city( eg nike shoes, genetic engineered foods, mcdonalds etc ...
“Where are we when on the phone?”On a rooftop it turns out. International no-budget short film featuring contributions from Sadie Plant, Neotropic, Scanner, Howard Bloom and the gap in the NY skyline, a Colombian rooftop party, Rebecca Cannon, Captain Frodo, Anna Sagaponic and many more ( full list here )– all collaged together into one ‘continuous’ tale linked by rooftop phone action. Made back in 2002, released on Neopoetry DVD compilation, and subsequently screened at Straight Out Of Brisba...
Footage from a few hundred kilometres north of Perth in Dec 2007, with Shultz aka 'Captain Rad', and my new underwater camera casing. Little intro sequence of waves crashing @ the Bogey Hole in Newcastle, NSW. Music by Suckafish P Jonez from Brisbane, and we used this clip as part of a 12 minute AV performance @ NIDA in Sydney early 2008.
A one-minute film made to represent the 5-6pm timeslot in Melbourne, and being shown alongside 23 other films on a videowall, each with their own take on that hour. Overall project being run by Emile Zile. Clip starring Tristan Badham and Cigarette the cat.

The White House Gallery in Brisbane had an exhibition coming up : "The Future is a Wonderfully Fucked Place" and asked for a piece. Coburg Car Wreckers fitted the bill, and the day in the life of a drummer boy was filmed amongst the twisted metal. Photos were taken too and these transformed with panoramic software. Combinations of photos and video were then cut up into loops, sound added, and the loops programmed onto a DVD to trigger randomly. This 4 minute clip is a compilation of those loops.
