Webcams and libraries.
People are using their webcams and mobile phones to upload to sites like qik.com, youtube.com and Viddler. This video looks at why librarians should pay attention to this, raises more questions than it answers and outlines a few sites where people share webcam uploads. It is totally unedited - which is why I call Johnny Chung Lee "Jeff Chan" and can't think of the formal name for an interactive whiteboard. D'oh!.

I made this little clip of question time in Lawrence Lessig's keynote at the LIANZA conference. No powerpoints. No fancy fonts. Just plain talking, Lawrence Lessig: literacies, takedowns, trusting google .The questions were:1. How are new literacies being affected by copyright laws?2. What are the likely effects of the takedown provisions in the new New Zealand copyright laws?3. Do you trust google?In the last minute of the clip, he has some interesting things to say about librarians' ethics.

Hi Fi Sci Fi Library - Kathryn's clipette extend...
Michael Porter and David Lee King wrote a song about how to harness the power of "wow" in our libraries. They asked people in libraryland to send them clips of themselves singing the chorus. Snippets of these were then woven into the video.The complete clip is here, hi-fi sci-fi library .About half of my clip was in the video, so here is the complete...ummm..work.

Second Life Augmented Reality in Physical Space
Julian Stadon very kindly let me film his SLARiPS installation at John Curtin Art Gallery.The user puts on a headset with a webcam and looks through a pair of goggles. They then use a paddle to "liberate" a 3D avatar from within Second Life and out onto the desktop.
