The Asian Openbill Stork is a species migrating yearly from the colder climatic zones of northern and central Asia to Thailand to spend the winter here. Nesting and mating, breeding and parenting are interesting to watch. We became serious bird watchers and taped 'our' storks here for you to see. Read our corresponding photo report on SIAMPEDIA:http://blog.siampedia.org/?p=2892It is log-in free and we do not bother our viewers and fans with pop-ups :)
Bananas are our favorite fruit! While Melona's dad has a little banana-farm in Leyte (P.I.), Frank had to wait until much later to see where and how they grow on the trees. Here in Thailand they grow tasty and smaller varieties than what he knew from Europe's and the US fruitstands at markets :)
From Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis on the mainland, there are fast ferries to the Kuah Jetty on Langkawi, the trip is short - but in the end of the journey, the ferry passes through a channel between some of the 99 islands that Langkawi consists of. With special permit of the captain, I was allowed on the roof of the boat to take this footage. Unfortunately with inferior equipment, but it shows the passage well enough to make this a SIAMPEDIA add-on for our Langkawi photo report.
Narathiwat hosts our most favorite mainland beaches in Thailand and would have a lot of provincial charme. If it would not be for the Islamic insurgency and the bombings and ambushes, which claimed 4.000 lifes since 2004 - when political hardliner Shinawata imposed new rules down here!
Penang's Georgetown by night offers a rich selection of bars, street cafes and bistros/discos. Most are conveniently located on a lively mile in downtown. Come on, take a stroll with the Siampedia-team!
A monk was banned from his home country Laos in 1978 and finished in Thailand, what he couldn't do in Laos. He collected large concrete sculptures from a variety of Religions and displayed them in a garden.
An evening ferry across the Penang channel, despite the existing bridge - 1000's use it daily. Follow us on the trip across!
Follow us to Amphawa, a real floating market without the plastic "Made in China" souvenirs. It's in Samut Songkram, just an hour by car from Bangkok! Come with us and experience the real thing! Read our feature report on Amphawa: http://blog.siampedia.org/?p=275
Enjoy the views of passing hills in this railway footage, taken on board a Hat Yai to Bangkok night train, a few hours into the 16 to 20 hour journey :) a few months back. Read in our SIAMPEDIA reports about each class of service offered in Thailand!
WAL-MART in Thailand! Impossible, but see it for yourself :) Pattani's coast on the Gulf of Thailand has many great beaches and palm-fringed stretches of coast. We used this raw footage to bring you an impression from the scenario there.
