We awoke to 4 inches of snow on our deck in Bend, Oregon, as early as most of us can remember, on October 4th! Global Warming or Ice Age? Soundtrack of hungry birds at our nearby feeders.

Our deck fountain was still flowing this morning in spite of the very early freeze and snowfall, said to be the earliest in memory in Bend, Oregon on October 4th!

Prairie Dog
Young Prairie Dog, aka Ground Squirrel, born beneath our yard this Spring, arrived above ground with its siblings after the thaw. Since this was taken, we have embarked on the process of relocating them via live trapping to a more appropriate home in the nearby country. Village manager was about to eliminate them in less friendly ways to avoid them tunneling under our residences (still a work in progress as we have new holes daily).
