25% of homeowner's real estate taxes will not increase or decrease substantially. The balance is split so most increases will be $400 or less. There are a few houses that will exceed $1,000, depending on the revaluation evaluations. The 1st Selectman's presentation detailed the effects of revaluation in a professional manner explaining that the net effect of the 33.92 mill rate this year is not a 6 mill increase, but rather a 2 mill increase as influenced by revaluation and other factors. Both the 1st Selectman and the BOF Chair requested the town's support for both budgets at the referendum.
