Sabbath school class held weekly on the campus of Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. Topics covered include the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) integration of faith and belief in the Bible into everyday scientific endeavors. Books are reviewed and many relevant scientific topics are evaluated and reassessed (preferentially looking at raw data when available). Speakers include Paul Giem, Ariel Roth, Brian Bull, Jim Gibson, Ben Clausen, Tim Standish, Warren Johns, Sean Pitman, and many others. Some are associated with the Geoscience Research Institute (GRI) while others simply have a personal desire for finding truth within all the surrounding error, assumptions, and presuppositions. It is commonly believed, for what used to be good reason, that Galileo was jailed and tortured for his belief that the earth moved. New documents indicate that he was not tortured, and probably was not jailed. The implications of this information for the study of history are discussed.
The first part of the lecture deals with the current debate in the Netherlands: Why Should We Accept Theistic Evolution? In the second part an overview of possible arguments is presented including a case study on the sediments of the Olduvai Gorge.
Tennessee has just followed Louisiana's example by enacting a law that allows for teaching the controversy about certain politically charged scientific subjects. Some claim there is no controversy over evolution. A thoughtful evaluation of the arguments suggests that what we have is a controversy over religion rather than science.
Who created the predators? God? Satan? Natural selection? What do nature and inspiration tell us about this widespread element of the natural world?
The Genesis Flood story is often alleged to be a copy of the flood story in the Epic of Gilgamesh. The Atra-Hasis epic, the Eridu Genesis epic, and another early Flood story from Sumer are compared with Genesis, which appears to be closest to the earliest account. The book "God, Sky, and Land: Genesis 1 as the Ancient Hebrews Heard It" was reviewed. Paul Giem presented the contents, some strengths and weaknesses of the book, and what he saw as its main thesis. Authors Brian Bull and Fritz Guy then responded, followed by a panel discussion and audience questions and answers. (PDF of book found as a torrent by searching the internet.)

This presentation will serve as an introduction of the 1268 PowerPoint slide resource prepared especially for the students and teachers in Adventist schools, and for all those who wonder if science and/or the Bible is true? The incredible precision of the universe is often overlooked in discussion about science and God. The topic is also too often neglected in the Adventist conversation. This topic will be introduced by a video prepared for the general viewer and will also serve as an introduction to the 14 video series entitled "Where Is Truth?: In the Bible, in Science, or Both?"
In an article in Science, Christopher Bronk Ramsey et al. documented a massive number of radiocarbon dates on material from various Egyptian dynasties. Some of the difficulties the data raise for the dating of the Santorini eruption and for various theories of the Exodus are considered.
