There was a fire in the high rise apartment building right next to mine. The fire started in the restaurant on the ground floor and apparently caused smoke damage all the way through to the roof. The FDNY responded with more fire trucks than I knew existed in the entire city. There were at least half a dozen ladder trucks, another half dozen pumpers, half a dozen command vehicles and various assorted "special" vehicles like the Hi-Rise Unit, the Mask Distribution (?) Unit and the Major Emergency Response Unit. I captured some DV video in addition to the cell phone video, but it's probably not too good because I didn't want to be "that guy" videotaping the fire fighters as they did their work. I felt like pointing my cell phone at them for extendd periods of time was bad enough. Still, I may have some better, higher resolution, video to share of this event later this week. Less
