In this clip blip.tv's own Dina Kaplan talks with Brian Flemming about the democratization of filmmaking. Brian wrote, directed and produced The God Who Wasn't There, a documentary questioning the historical existance of Jesus Christ. Flemming discusses the fact that filmmakers today can make entire films by themselves using DV cameras and tools such as Apple's Final Cut Pro. He also talks about how he's working to make a point with his film -- to such an extent that he's allowing theaters to screen it at no cost to the theater. They're even allowed to charge admission, sharing none of it with the film's creator. The segment is very interesting and it's a sure thing that Brian's production and distribution tactics will be used more and more by agit-doc producers in the years to come. The God Who Wasn't There premieres tonight at 7PM at the Two Boots Pioneer Theater in New York City. If you're in New York and are free you should check it out. Less
