On Friday January 27, 2012, approximately 7:00 AM, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit served three search warrants on residences in Splendora and Harris County, Texas. Just after 7 a.m. Thursday, a truck driven by 47-year-old Thomas Taylor of Ottawa, Alberta, Canada ran into some major unexpected difficulty as it was pulling out of the Flying J Truck Stop at US 59 and SH 242, beginning a 2,800 mile trek to Red Deer, Canada. As Thomas turned westbound onto SH 242, a dip between the road and the parking lot caused his truck to tip and fall onto its side. Just after 11 p.m. on Monday Woodlands firefighters were dispatched to a house fire in Carlton Woods area of The Woodlands. As the first trucks pulled out of the station the orange glow in the sky told them that they had a working fire. Magnolia Fire Department was called in to assist. As they arrived on the scene they found a home at the end of South Lamerie which they estimated to be over 12,000 square feet heavily involved in fire. At 9:47 this evening Caney Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a barn fire that was reported to have a residence attached. The location given was 13488 Creekwood in Lake Wildwood Subdivision off FM 1485 North near the railroad tracks. When the first unit arrived they had a shed approximately sixty feet long heavily involved in fire. On the end was a residence. About 5:15a.m. this morning New Caney and Porter Fire Departments were dispatched to a house fire at 1811 Roman Forest Blvd. When they arrived they found a two story home totally involved. This was the same home which firefighters left just twelve hours before when then too it was heavily involved in fire. Cpl. Joseph D. Logan, 22, of Willis has been identified as one of the six Marines lost in Afghanistan Thursday evening. According to the Department of Defense, six Marines from the Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363 were killed during combat operations. The squadron, known as the Lucky Red Lions is based in Kanoehe Bay, Hawaii. Marine Lt. Col. Late this afternoon Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constables received information that a wanted fugitive was seen on Massey Road in the Grangerland area. The northbound feeder of US 59 at SH 242 was reopened shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Wednesday morning just after 9 a.m. Robert Smith Jr., 32, of Livingston was driving a Mack truck owned by Anderson Trucking.
