Working with the California State Library's "California of the Past" digital storytelling grant, the Salinas Public Library has partnered with the United Farm Workers (UFW) and local community members to create digital stories about their lives as parents, children, immigrants, students, field workers, and everything in between.
The Story of Annibal Tinoco. Mr. Tinoco shares with the viewer his tough but happy journey as a campesino, or farm worker. From a young age Mr. Tinoco has been an advocate against injustice, and by educating himself, he plans to become a more knowledgeable and better prepared defender of justice in the fields.
The story of Ricarda Rodriguez. Mrs. Rodriguez speaks of the days when she joined Cesar Chavez to march for farm workers rights. With the United Farm Workers, in the 1980s, Mrs. Rodriguez supported and marched for an immigration reform.
