Soft Pastels are a medium that foxes many – for this purest of pigmented mediums is often overlooked in favour of working with wet paints. ................. Yet, Artist & Author Paul Taggart describes the work he does with Soft Pastels, as ‘painting’ – the difference simply being that rather than producing ‘wet’ strokes, he can effectively mimic the effects of scuffs, scumbles, blending and layering with ‘dry’ strokes. ................. IN LESSON 26 Paul works through the entire background fabric bringing yet more life to the tumbling folds of the luscious rich silk.
