Thanks to Navarre for pointing out this awesome idea for making our homemade synthesizers even more versatile! He's a frequent commenter and always interesting stuff to contribute. A few posts ago, we discussed how to make a homemade synthesizer from any sound you have lying around. One very important point that I emphasized in that post was the need to "tune" the synth, since the waveform that you isolate may not play nicely with your other instruments. Well, what Navarre pointed out is that, once you've tuned the synth, you can change the timbre of the synthesizer, WITHOUT CHANGING THE TUNING, by messing with the "Start" position of the waveform in the Simpler. Check out how I do this in the video! I took it a step further on mine and mapped the Start position of the two simplers to an X/Y controller using Touch OSC.
