I think you will see from the video that this show took a great effort on the part of the organizers, partners and the artists to bring together. The results speak for themselves (in one case literally so). But watching the movie is not a substitute for experiencing the work on site. Pick the weather that suits you and take a walk around the grounds and enjoy the site that has been transformed by each artists individually and together.
4 installation artists from CFEVA are creating site specific work on the grounds of a historic farmhouse and barn at The Schuylkill Center in Philadelphia. http://www.schuylkillcenter.org This video introduces you to the artists and their work and the curator Warren Angle and Amie Potsic from the partner organization, The Center For Emerging Visual Artists. But to see the actual work installed, you will have to visit the site or watch the final documentary movie. Music by chinapainting
Supplemental Shrubbery Sound Source is the title of Chris Vecchio's project. Chris has a background in electrical engineering and brings that knowledge to this project. He has created green creatures, nice creatures, that hang in trees at The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education. As you hike the trails you will surprised to hear sounds not normally heard in a forest. I won't tell you anymore. Watch the video.
"KOKO to SOKO - Imagine here and There" is Keiko's title for her installation at the SCEE. Katie calls her installation "Debtor's Inheritance." She worked with P'unk Avenue to develop a text messaging (SMS) component as part of her concept. As you walk down a path you will type in a word, then you will receive part of a narrative that Katie has written that relates to the grounds of the SCEE. And beautifully colored and branded gourds can be found in trees, on the forest floor and in the pond.
This is an unusual, multifaceted exhibition that you should definitely go by and experience. For starters it goes beyond the white box of galleries and museums, and out to a beautiful wooded park of 340 acres at The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education. Mary Salvante curates exhibitions for the Center's indoor gallery and for designated areas amongst the trees and ponds. For Green Machine, John Murphy from Inliquid has selected 3 artists from it's members to create work that incorpora...
