Rivahratt

About this original series

Stephen Hobson has been on the internet for over four years now. He has been a geek since Windows 98 and has been participating in online activities for four years. He created his first website at the age of ten. Powering over three websites using pure HTML and self hosting with WordPress, he finds it to be a very satisfying experience. He has posted over two hundred blog posts to his personal blog at Rivahratt.co.cc and writes a new post quite often. Stephen is not a Mac user but enjoys Windows 7 on his 2.6 GHz machine. Of course, Stephen is a geek so most of his topics that he discusses are technology related. Stephens handle Rivahratt originated from the river place he used to go to frequently. After finding out his true love (computers), the username stuck. Rivahratt is pronounced Riv-er-rat. If you would like to contact him, his E-mail address is Stephen@rivahratt.co.cc. Stephen describes himself as technologists, internet obsessed, technology enthusiast, web developer, blogger, neat freak, touch typist and a cross platform geek.

So, if you find yourself struggling with la...

    • My Top 3 Favorite Web Apps

For most of the applications you use, there is usually a web app alternative. I wrote a post very similar to this one about a year ago but I would like to post an update just because the web apps that I talked about back then were not as advanced and as useful as the ones I will be showing you today. So, here are my top three favorite, free web applications.

    • Google Adds Real-Time Search Streams to Results

Now, if you head over to Google.com and search for something like "Tiger Woods" or any terms related to news, at the top of the results page you will see a scrolling stream of Tweets from Twitter, posts from FriendFeed and mentions from other networks as well. This may seem like a small new feature to some but for me and most geeks out there, this is a pretty big step for Google. You are reading news from multiple sources in one place. If that is not at least slightly impressive to you, well, ...
