The Ikonoskop DII is a new digital video camera capable of capturing RAW video at 1920x1080 HD resolution. Ikonoskop recently posted some early footage on their site. I did some quick color grading to emulate how it might appear when incorporated in a real-world project. Each short sequence was rendered with a significantly different look: 1. The nighttime driving shots were warmed, with a slight reduction in color saturation and slightly increased highlights and contrast. 2. The watch is presented in slow motion because the original was extremely short. The contrast and midtones were emphasized, with added diffusion and a sky filter. Gamma is also lifted and curved. I was going for a look reminiscent of the recent James Bond films, emphasizing rock solid blacks. It's more artistic than the relatively flat contrast of the original.3. The original lab scenes were blown out. My aim was simply to bring back a bit more of the detail with exposure compensation, increased gamma and some tweaked saturation. I'm looking forward to seeing more footage as development of the DII progresses. It looks promising. The music under this sequence is excerpted from Diego Stocco's "Music from a stapler," (c) 2008, Diego Stocco.
