On August 1st, Asst. Chief Fruetel was off-duty when the call came. He left the Twins game on the back of a friend’s motorcycle and went immediately to the scene. John led the rescue operation, serving as the incident commander during the first critical hours. John coordinated the responders, quickly assembling a command staff, and organizing land, water, and air-based efforts.
